Let’s be real. For most of us, it’s a rare occasion to make donuts at home! It’s an ordeal. Frying with oil, whipping up a yeast dough, the whole 9 yards.
This is probably a good thing, lol.
But what if I told you that you can whip up a delicious donut-like treat at home quickly, easily, with minimal ingredients and effort, and almost no cleanup?!
Air Fryer Donuts make good use of refrigerated flaky biscuits. They’re crisp outside with gorgeous layers inside. And the beauty is that they’ll taste like whatever you put on the outside!
A simple vanilla glaze is classic, and of course you can add sprinkles. Chocolate ganache is also quick, easy, and delicious. Or you could go old-school with cinnamon sugar. Yum.

How to Store Air Fryer Donuts
Like any donuts, these are best served fresh within an hour or so of making. However, they will keep ok for about one day if stored in an airtight food storage container at room temperature.
If they get a little hard you can reheat them briefly in a microwave (start with 5 seconds and check them).
Variations on This Recipe
- Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle. You can go with rainbow sprinkles, chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, coconut, or whatever else you can dream up.
- Chocolate lovers. Skip the glaze and dip the tops in chocolate ganache. To make a quick chocolate ganache, heat together 1/4 cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips and 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream until the chocolate is melted.
- Cinnamon sugar. Instead of glaze, once the donuts are cooked (but before they’re cooled), brush them with melted butter and roll them in cinnamon sugar.
Tips for Making Air Fryer Donuts
- If you don’t have a small circle cookie cutter or biscuit cutter, you can use something about the size of a quarter, such as a bottle cap or shot glass.
- Air fry the center holes to make donut holes after these are cooked. Cook them at 350F and start checking them at 3 minutes.
- Be careful not to overcrowd these when you cook them. In an Air Fryer, the air needs to be able to circulate around the food its cooking.
